Sodding
Everyone loves a lawn – a luxuriant rich green expanse of grass that just invites you to sit and picnic on it. But not everyone has one. Growing a good looking lawn can take a long time (decades according to some experts) and not everyone has the time. We can seed grass where we are sure of getting a good result, but we also include sodding in our armory for a very good reason. Sodding brings the benefit of immediacy. Sodding helps protect eroding or degraded soils, creates a good looking lawn from day one, and within weeks has the root system strength comparable to two or three year old grass grown from seed. Sodding is that instant green magic that transforms your property.
Why Sod? There are lots of reasons why sodding may be a better option than growing a new lawn. Some are almost charming – there are some places where the amount of birdlife means sown seed barely has a chance. Others are less so – tough conditions make it hard for seed to take and grow, let alone grow consistently without bare patches. Then even if you have grass seed that takes and thrives you still have to wait weeks before there is enough grass to look good, and a lot longer before that grass is robust enough to be a lawn you can actually walk on without damaging it. What Sod? Aside from the sheer immediacy of sodding as a way of creating a perfect yard in a day, sodding has other advantages too. Based on our analysis of the soil and local micro climate we may recommend a number of different grass types all of which are available as rolled sod, ready to lay. Grasses come in a huge range of varieties each with their different characteristics including leaf blade density, softness, hardiness, etc. So we will want to talk with you about how you see your lawn being used. Will you want to lie on it for picnics and the like, or will it be simply to look at? Will it need to bounce back from a heavy footfall of visitors walking over it. Once we've talked to you about the kind of usage your yard or lawns will have we can recommend the best sods fit for the purpose you have in mind as well as the look you are dreaming of. Repair Work Sodding isn't just for new lawns. It's also great for repairing holes, damage, or erosion patches in your yard. We can provide just the size you need and match your grass type so that it fits perfectly and will soon be indistinguishable from the grass around it. Patching doesn't remove the underlying problems however so we don't just put down sod and walk away. We'll look at why the previous grass wasn't doing so well and we'll try to repair the subsoil as well as laying new sod. Sod It The beauty of sodding is that whether you've got a tiny yard that you'd like to green, or a display lawn in front of a commercial property, whether you've got a soccer pitch you want to upgrade to grass, sodding makes it simple. |
